| Haystack 2009: ART in an Environmental Age September 18-20, 2009 This year at our fall conference we will encounter Art in an Environmental Age. How do we address the environment in our quest to make art? How do we teach our students to use materials with care? How can we make art from recycled or reused materials? The workshops will address these ideas and offer many opportunities for exploration and creation. Our keynote Ben Potter, will speak about the uses of the term “green” and the current focus on environmental art. The workshops will include instruction and studio time to work with products of the earth: Clay with Cathy Hammond, Wood with Jon Brooks, Glass with Bonnie Faulkner and Shards and Shells with Lynne Shulman, amongst others. To emphasize the theme, plan on wearing green to the keynote address on Friday, and bring your green (cash) to purchase the wide array of offerings at the Silent Auction Saturday night. Please remember we need your contributions! Thanks to all who donate and all who volunteer to make this conference a success. Registration begins on June 1, 2009. Please do not mail the form until this date or you will be placed at the bottom of the pile. The Registrar will fill places by postmark, not by when they are received. Please understand there are a limited number of beds and an occupancy total that must be adhered to by law. Read the fine print so you are aware of refund and wait list policies. We look forward to connecting in one of the most beautiful environments of all to explore the ideas and challenges of the greening of art. See you in September, Linda Thorndike Williams Nanci Nason Cam Davis Conference Chairs |
